POV B「視点B, Shiten B?」 is a story written by Aka Akasaka and given as a reward for people who watched the pre-screening of the first episode of Oshi no Ko anime adaptation.[1] The story was later released bundled with the light novel Spica the First Star.[2]
The audiobook narrated by Rie Takahashi (the VA of Ai) is later uploaded on to the official Oshi no Ko YouTube channel.
Summary[]
Part 1[]
An unnamed former member of B-Komachi reminisces over Ai Hoshino, and how being in the entertainment world affects her life decades later. She goes through her experience post-B-Komachi, and how she ended up being a saleswoman for an internet provider and remembers a certain song.
Part 2[]
When the unnamed former member was still a member of B-Komachi, she was dumped by her boyfriend due to their inability to have a date properly due to her idol job. Complaining to a new member called Kanan, she lamented over romance and voiced her desire to have a normal romance.
After B-Komachi was done with a performance, she took time to herself at a nearby park, when she was found by Ai Hoshino, whom she never talked to due to the tension she created within B-Komachi due to the perceived favoritism by the agency Ichigo Production, Inc. Ai reveals that she saw her looking gloomy and decided to approach her, eating burgers of her own, and making sure that she was alright.
She then began venting to Ai about her boyfriend, and all of her inner thoughts regarding her current life situation. Ai was unable to empathize properly with her. After being prodded on regarding that, Ai said that she is still like everyone else, and reveals that she was turned away by her mother's relatives, who promised to look after her.
She was shocked to hear that this only happened the day after yesterday, and it didn't affect Ai's performance in any way, realizing that this is probably what management would prefer to have within idols they manage. Lamenting that she brings nothing to the table, Ai said that the unnamed member can compose songs for the group, just like what a member, Mei-chan did. She fought back against the idea, mostly due to her being embarrassed, but relented after Ai agreed to write the lyrics for her.
Part 3[]
The unnamed former member remembered an interview with a fashion magazine, where Ai answered her name on a question of which member she is the closest to.
A few days after their talk in the park, Ai came to her with a notebook containing all the lyrics she came up with, one of which caught her attention. She then began composing a song, which ended up as a B-side on a single by B-Komachi, not gaining much popularity.
But years later, it's a song that the unnamed former member finds herself humming every now and then.
Trivia[]
- When POV B was compiled in the light novel Spica the First Star, some elements got changed compared to the original version:
- In Part 1, several brand name drops were changed to more generic phrasing. "Dior coat" was changed to "coat from a high brand" and "Adidas sandals" was changed to "sport sandals".
- In the beginning of Part 2 in the original version, it was mentioned that Ai's age was 14, but later it is mentioned that Ai's age was 15. It was a mistake that was since corrected in the light novel, and the part where it says that Ai's age was 14 was changed to 15.
- The member's ex-boyfriend's age was 24 in the original version, but it was changed to 21 in the light novel version.
- One B-Komachi song appear in the publication of the book that does not appear in the manga:
- Though not confirmed, it is implied in the story that the former member who is narrating the story is Kyun.
- The narrator explain that her member color was yellow, which was Kyun's color.
- The narrator also explain that she left the group before B-Komachi disbanded, and Kyun is absent from the group's farewell concert as shown in the anime.
