Oshi no Ko Wiki

Nobuyuki Kumano (くま) () ノブユキ, Kumano Nobuyuki?」 is a supporting character in Oshi no Ko. He is a high school second-year dancer who participated in the reality dating show LoveforReal.

Appearance[]

Nobuyuki is a handsome young man with semi-long violetish-black hair that covers his ears with bangs swept on either side and hazel eyes.

He can be seen wearing a dark brown cardigan over a white collared shirt, blue pants, and black shoes during one of the episodes of LoveforReal.

Personality[]

Aqua Hoshino describes Nobuyuki as an "honest, yet interesting person" while he was assessing his fellow cast members in LoveforReal.[3] Nobuyuki Kumano is characterized by his open and straightforward nature. Described by Aqua as someone who “doesn’t hide anything, but is fun,” he approaches social situations with honesty and an easygoing charm. He is emotionally sincere, particularly in his feelings toward Yuki Sumi, and prioritizes genuine connection over on-camera drama. Despite the edited portrayal of his confession on Real Love ♡ Starts Now, his earnestness ultimately leads to a real relationship with Yuki off-screen.

Though gentle and warm-hearted, Nobuyuki is also attentive to the emotions of those around him. He shows strong empathy, stepping in to defend Akane during a period of public backlash. His playful side appears in group settings, where he joins light-hearted antics without hesitation, helping to ease tension among the cast.

Nobuyuki forms attachments easily and expresses his emotions openly, whether through the affectionate nickname “Ah-kun” for Aqua or the subdued grief he displays at Aqua’s funeral. Overall, he is portrayed as sincere, empathetic, and socially approachable, with a natural ability to connect with others.

Etymology[]

  • The name Nobuyuki when written in katakana (ノブユキ), has generally positive connotations roughly meaning happiness and trust but needs to be written in Kanji to fully clarify its meaning. The name can be split into two parts: Nobu (ノブ) and Yuki (ユキ). They can be expressed in kanji as (信, 延, Nobu) - (幸, 雪, 由貴, 由紀, Yuki), where they could possibly mean:
    • Nobu (信, 延)
      • 信 - "trust, believe".
      • 延 - "prolong, stretch".
    • Yuki (幸, 雪, 由貴, 由紀)
      • 幸 - "happiness, good luck".
      • 雪 - "snow".
      • 由貴 - "reason, case, cause" (由) (yu) and "valuable" (貴) (ki).
      • 由紀 - "reason, case, cause" (由) (yu) and "chronicle" (紀) (ki).
  • Nobuyuki's surname Kumano means "bear" (熊) (kuma) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
