Summary[]

Chapter 1[]

Three months after debuting as an idol, Ai Hoshino goes to Ichigo Saitou's office saying that she wants to quit the idol industry. The ambiance among the members of B-Komachi has been tense since she became the center. They talk badly about her and do mischeaves like throwing her costume in the garbage before a concert. We also see that Ai doesn't read fans' letters due to the trauma she had in the past because of a lawyer's letter saying that her mother abandoned her after she was released from prison. Ichigo asks her to do the last work next Sunday.

That day, they go to a shopping center and Ichigo wants to buy clothes for Ai. While Ichigo is away, she chooses a one-piece dotted dress. Suddenly, two members of B-Komachi noticed her. Ai couldn't recall their names, so they are described as one having "slanted eyes" and the other having a "round face". They start telling bad things to Ai. During the discussion, they mention Kyun and Nino. One teardrop falls from Ai's face. Ichigo comes back and takes Ai's defense. He says that he is buying her clothes to compensate for the jacket they cut off in pieces last week. He says that if they want to become the center, they have to fight for it the correct way and not in an unfair way. After he said that, the members left.

Ai was surprised since Ichigo was noticing the problem among the B-Komachi members. Ichigo says that they are important to him and that he is a kind of fan of them. Ai doesn't understand what being a fan of someone really means and Ichigo says it's a way of showing love. Ichigo shows her a keychain he worked on the whole night. He recalls her that she wanted to be an idol because she wanted to love someone. So he asks her, as the last thing to do before quitting, to read the fans' letters.

Ai opened the locker with the letters and read them one by one. Three days later, she comes back to Ichigo's meeting room telling him ideas for the next concert. Ai wants to do a song cheering for her fans. The two members who saw Ai at the shopping center enter the room and they reconcile with Ai. After they leave, Ai says to Ichigo that she will not quit now. After reading the fans' letters, she finally understands what being a fan of someone really means. Like her fans, she also wants to love and be a fan of someone. That's why she is ready to continue being an idol even if the ambient among the members is bad. After all, "Ai Hoshino is a greedy person".

Chapter 2[]

One month after being hospitalized in a hospital in Miyazaki, Sarina Tendouji tried to leave the hospital from the backdoor. Suddenly, Gorou Amamiya, a medical intern who was slacking off at the back of the hospital, holds her wheelchair preventing her from going outside. After coming back to her room, Sarina explained that she wanted to go to Tokyo to watch a B-Komachi concert. Gorou doesn't seem interested and doesn't understand why she loves B-Komachi and Ai so much. So Sarina lends him a DVD of B-Komachi's first concert.

After watching the DVD, he gives back her DVD saying that he didn't become a fan, but wants to watch more. Sarina gives him all the DVDs she has and a USB flash drive with a compilation made by her of the best songs of the idol group. Gorou starts going to Sarina's room regularly. There was one time that he was singing one of B-Komachi's songs with Sarina. Toudou, a doctor woman around fifty years old complained about the noise and started scolding Gorou. Gorou explained that he was applying the theory that seeing beautiful things is good for health. But even with that, he was still denying that he became a fan.

But one day he stops coming to Sarina's room. Nobody knows where he is. Only rumors among the nurses saying that he ran away to another country or that there was a woman stalking him. Sarina went to the rooftop asking why she was living. She takes her Ai keychain, but it falls on the ground. She tries to pick it up, but she loses her balance and is about to fall. Suddenly, Gorou catches her. Sarina is happy to see him again.

Gorou explains that he went to Tokyo to buy a ticket for the B-Komachi concert at Miyazaki for Sarina. The ticket is a special ticket that has a meeting with Ai. Gorou says that it's a Christmas gift he wanted to give her. Sarina gets emotional since she never had a Christmas gift in her life, not even from her family. But it turns out that her first Christmas gift was also her last.

Chapter 3[]

[The beginning of Chapter 3 is an extension of the flashback in chapter 75 of the manga.]

One month later, on a stormy night in January, Gorou got called out because Sarina was in a critical state. Gorou doesn't understand since Sarina seemed fine. Sarina didn't tell Gorou about her illness and asked the nurses and the doctors to not tell him about her actual state because she wanted to have fun conversations with Gorou until the end. Toudou, the doctor who was taking care of Sarina, told him that Sarina has anaplastic astrocytoma and Gorou is devastated. He also gets angry since her parents aren't there to see her at her last moment. It's not the first time that he sees someone dying at the hospital since he saw his grandmother and other patients dying too. But this time is different since he realizes that Sarina has become important to him.

Gorou sits beside Sarina's bed while she is unconscious. After a few minutes, Sarina wakes up saying that she had a dream where she was an idol at B-Komachi with two other members and Gorou was cheering for her with glow sticks. Sarina says that she knows that she will not make it. Gorou says that she will get better and that she will become an idol, but Sarina notices that he's lying. She gives him her Ai keychain before dying. Her last words were: "If I could be reborn, I'm sure...".

Sarina's father came to the hospital very late, three days later. A hearse took her body. Gorou became depressed after Sarina's death. He started drinking after work. One day he was drinking at a bar when a woman called Yumiko recognized him. Gorou couldn't recall her because of the alcohol. Yumiko thought that Gorou was sad because of a breakup, but Gorou didn't say a lot and left. When he left, she followed him.

Suddenly Yumiko's boyfriend, who is a delinquent, appears looking very angry by seeing Gorou and Yumiko together. He starts punching Gorou multiple times and Gorou thinks that he is going to die there. He says that if he wants to end him, he should do so. Yumiko says to not think like this. Her words made her boyfriend stop. She tells Gorou that it's not the end and that he is still having a duty: get the proof that she lived. Gorou doesn't understand why she knows that, but he puts his hand in his pocket and takes the keychain that Sarina offered to him. Yumiko left and her boyfriend followed her.

The next day, Gorou goes to talk to Toudou and she gives him an envelope that Sarina wanted to give to Gorou. Gorou went to the hospital room where Sarina was and started reading the letter. Sarina wrote that when Gorou read the letter she would surely not be there anymore, but since she knew that Gorou would be depressed, she decided to motivate him. In the letter, there was a link to a video of B-Komachi. It's a song called "Your wish to your idol", where Ai sings cheering for her fans. It's the song that Ai wanted to do in Chapter 1. Gorou starts singing the lyrics along with Ai. He gets emotional and laughs since until the very end Sarina was cheering.

Three months later, Gorou changed completely. He stopped drinking after work and he became a big fan of B-Komachi. The chapter ends with Gorou going to the B-Komachi's concert at Miyazaki.

Epilogue[]

Before the concert at Miyazaki, Ai is in a parking place looking at the night sky. B-Komachi became so famous that they are making a country tour starting in the south of Japan. At first sight, it seems that Ai started having a good relationship with the other members and her fans, but she actually became good at lying.

Ichigo appears, worried because he didn't find her in the dressing room, so he was looking for her. Ai points to a star saying that the star is beautiful. Ichigo says that the star she is pointing at is Spica. He explains that Spica is actually a binary star, two stars brightening together. Ai is impressed by the two stars relying on each other and keeping bright no matter how dark the world around them becomes.

Ai says to Ichigo that she was always fascinated with twins and if one day she gets pregnant, she would like to give birth to twins. Ichigo says that she can't do that since she is an idol and she is too young to get pregnant. Ai continues saying that if one day she has to give birth, she would like to do it in Miyazaki. This makes Ichigo more upset. Ai extends her hand towards Spica and wishes that one day she could have a lovely family.
