Synopsis[]

Summary[]

An advertisement for becoming an Idol was aired, and one of the 136,114 applicants screened through writing and interviews was Ruby. She dreams of becoming an idol to follow in her late mother's footsteps; however, her twin brother Aqua disapproves. Aqua would like Ruby to focus on studying for her high school entrance exam than gamble with the chance of becoming an idol and lists off the cruel facts associated with idols. Despite this, Ruby insists on following her dream and, not wanting to argue with Ruby, leaves to meet with Taishi.

Episode 2 Teaser 3

Aqua's change of personality after Ai's death.

Ruby's inner monologue reveals that Aqua's personality has changed dramatically since their mother died. She also noted his coldness and indifference, accompanied by his gloomy expressions. Furthermore, Ichigo lost the rights to his production company, which was later taken over by his wife Miyako. The company no longer has an Idol division since B-Komachi disbanded after Ai's death and mainly focused on internet personalities instead.

Although Miyako would love to start an idol division again, it's impossible to rekindle what they once had ever since Ai died. Just then, Ruby receives a phone call about the results of her audition and becomes devastated to learn that she failed to make the cut. However, it's revealed that Aqua posed as the test results announcer informing her that she failed and wrote a text to the idol advertisers that she was withdrawing. He did all of that with Taishi's help in his makeshift studio, and the director compliments Aqua's acting skills. Also, Taishi opines that Ruby has excellent talent as an idol, but Aqua reinforces his will not to allow Ruby to follow in Ai's footsteps.

Episode 2 Teaser 5

Aqua pretends to be a talent agent.

Despite Aqua's interference, Ruby is scouted by an underground idol, which raises flags with Miyako and Aqua. The two would talk about their apprehensions about Ruby becoming an idol, and although Miyako sympathizes with Aqua, she cannot help but want to support Ruby's idol endeavor. Hence, Aqua takes one of their company business cards and later poses as a talent agent, scouting out an underground idol named Lara to learn more about what they're up against.

Along with Miyako at the Ichigo-Pro office, Aqua asks Lara a series of questions concerning her terms and contract with her current idol company. Lara answers them with dark facts about the lead singer and their manager. Miyako and Aqua would later debrief over what they've learned and how it correlates with the common rumors surrounding it. What they've learned reinforces Aqua's motives to protect Ruby from becoming an idol, let alone an underground one.

Episode 2 Teaser 6

Ruby determined to be an idol.

On the day of Ruby's underground audition, Miyako asks if Ruby is sincerely serious about going through with it listing off negative aspects of being an idol. On the other hand, Ruby remains determined and obstinate toward any dissuasion Miyako gives; hence, Miyako raises a counteroffer to join their newly formed idol group. Later, Miyako has Ruby sign and seal the official contracts related to becoming an idol with the production company.

Afterward, Aqua visits Taishi's home and informs him about becoming an idol while assisting him in his directorial duties. Taishi poses the question to Aqua whether or not he'll pursue acting, but he declines, stating his interests lie in general studies than acting. There's also Aqua's true motive in hunting down his father for setting up his mother's death. Still, Taishi has faith in Aqua becoming an actor, and in the middle of giving him some advice, Taishi's mother interrupts him, to his dismay. Right as Aqua is in the middle of giving his response to Taishi, Taishi's mother interrupts him, again to Taishi's dismay.

Eventually, Aqua and Ruby apply for their choice of high school, and after their interviews, they run into Kana. At first, Aqua doesn't remember Kana, but Ruby reminds him of her unique talent, allowing him to recall who she is. Pleased to see Aqua again, Kana asks him if he's applied for the acting department; however, she's astounded to learn that he applied for general studies.
