Summary[]

The conflict between the Shinjuku and Shibuya faction rages on as Monme (Sakuya Kamoshida) and Kizami (Melt Narushima) are going head to head again. Meanwhile the clash between Tsurgi (Kana Arima) and Princess Saya (Akane Kurokawa) comes to a temporary stop. In between scenes, Taiki asks Kana about her previous scene, saying she should have been more energetic. However she states that with both him being the leading actor and Akane performing as if trying to seize the starring role, she had to coordinate somehow. She then wonders what he is doing, he explains that he is reading the script but he is doing so without his glasses to avoid messing up his makeup as he does not wear contact lens. Kana questions how he sees the other actors' expressions but he waves it off as the audience cannot see their expressions either and movement alone is enough to converse between actors. Kana then continues to ask why he is reading the script at this time and he says he want to add some ad-lib performances to avoid being overshadowed by Akane.

Ep 19 Kana understands Aqua's movements

Kana understands what Aqua is conveying.

The play resumes with the conflict between the two faction, the highlight being a showdown between Blade (Taiki Himekawa) and Touki (Aqua Hoshino). After a brief exchange of words, the two starting dueling with their swords. Aqua notes that Taiki's acting is filled with emotions and he responds by giving an emotionless performance to provide a contrast. Meanwhile Tsurgi is retreating from her duel with Princess Saya but she runs into Blade and Touki. At this point Taiki adds in his ad-lib performance by pushing Kana towards Aqua while he faces Akane. Kana realizes that Taiki has passed on most of the ad-lib responsibility to her but before she can react, Aqua starts improvising. Kana is surprised how well he can play it off others and soon he is back on script. She hesitates for a moment as she has never been so reckless before but she realizes that Aqua has positioned himself so all of the spotlight is focused on her. And based on his movements, she understands what he is trying to convey, he will coordinate with her in order to let her perform as she wishes.

Ep 19 Kana unleashes her performance on Aqua

Kana: "You are always driving me crazy."

In the past, Kana's mother dreamt of becoming an entertainer but things never panned out and she thrusted this dream onto her daughter. When Kana made it big, she got a taste of the dream she yearned for and Kana was happy too. However as Kana's popularity fades, she tried her best to keep her daughter relevant which cost her socially as well as her own husband. For Kana, she has no choice but to survive in the entertainment industry. Gotanda's advice showed her the error of her ways and she managed to cling on by being easy to work with. Therefore she does so by being the one who highlights others but suddenly she senses she is being highlighted. It is Aqua who is now doing the same thing she has been doing for others. Kana thinks the spotlight is wasted on her but Aqua argues that Kana's timid performance is not fitting of her character. However Kana is still worried about the trouble it may cause but Aqua tells her that it is what everyone else want to see, including himself. Coming to her senses, Kana at last brings her A-game and shows off what is truly capable off which leaves everyone astonished.

Ep 19 Kana's dazzling performance

Kana's dazzling performance.

Seeing her performance, Kaburagi remembers that while she was promoted with the tag line of the genius child who can cry in 10 seconds, it was her dazzling performance like the sun that made her a household name. While he has been hiring her due to her handy nature, her brilliance never faded away. Akane becomes starstruck upon seeing the Kana in front of her but becomes energized as this is also the Kana she wants to beat. Meanwhile Aqua also cannot help but admire how radiant their performances are and as Kana challenges him to raise his game, Aqua thinks he lacks the quality to do so. Tsurgi's duel with Touki ends with her disarming him and as she calls Blade to finish him off but Princess Saya jumps in the way to take the killing blow. As Princess Saya's body falls to the floor, her sword releases a mysterious power, healing the wounds of all participants of the battle. Blade tells Touki to arm himself but he refuses, saying that he has lost his reason to fight but Blade challenges him again asking if that is all.

Ep 19 Aqua acting equals revenge

Aqua: "Acting equals revenge."

During the rehearsals, under the guidance of Gotanda and with the help of Akane, Aqua identifies the trigger of his panic attack as his guilt. Gotanda says that Aqua gets panic attacks whenever he enjoys acting, meaning he feels guilty enjoying acting and by extension his mother. Gotanda then admits that he has worked out his connection to Ai and he has some idea why Aqua has entered show business, to enact his revenge. To keep his emotions in check, Gotanda offers him a solution, to not enjoy acting. On stage, Aqua channels this negative emotions into his performance while images of Ai flash through his mind.
