Synopsis[]
Akane jumped into the world of acting as a child, yearning to be Kana. However, since the harsh reality she saw there ......, Akane has continued to work hard. Finally, the time comes for the long-awaited head-to-head competition![1]
Summary[]
Monme (Sakuya Kamoshida) and Kizami's (Melt Narushima) duel results in the latter's defeat and Tsurugi (Kana Arima) and Blade (Taiki Himekawa) have arrived to avenge their comrade. Sakuya's line is interrupted by the sound effects but Kana seamlessly adds an ad-lib to convey the critical information. Sakuya is impressed and is glad to share the stage with her. With the odds stacked against him, Monme retreats and reports back to Touki (Aqua Hoshino) and Princess Saya (Akane Kurokawa). Abiko notes this particular scene was revised the most as they cut most of Princess Saya's dialogue to showcase her dignity. After careful consideration, Princess Saya declares that they will fight and so the conflict between the Shinjuku and Shibuya faction begins. Led by Blade, the Shinjuku faction storms the Shibuya faction's stronghold. Kizami gets a rematch with Monme while Touki challenges the leader. In the scuffle, Tsurugi finds herself alone facing off against Princess Saya alone. Kana detects Akane is acting in a way that conveys the message that her method is correct and wonders why she holds such a grudge.
Tsurugi tells Princess Saya to draw her sword but she declares her scabbard will suffice. For Akane, this face-off with Kana was a long time coming, so long in fact that Kana might not even remember. Back then Akane was mesmerized by Kana, the genius child actor and as a result, her parents encouraged her to try acting. Reluctant at first, she joined a children's theater troupe, hoping to meet Kana in person. Eventually, she got her chance at an audition. At the audition, she learned from a member of staff who had mistaken Akane for Kana that the role was always going to be given to Kana. Akane confronted Kana about the situation but Kana was not concerned and accepted that it meant she was going to get another job. Akane tried to reason with her about the importance of acting but Kana rebuffed her and told her to stop pretending to be her.
The confrontation left Akane confused, so she studied psychology to better understand her. Eventually, she worked out why Kana said all those things, work was starting to dry up and she was doing everything she could to keep pace. However Akane believes that is not how she should behave, the Kana she remembered was dazzling. Therefore she hates the Kana of today, who is simply matching those around her. Instead, everyone else should be trying to match her and she will demonstrate that right now. As the two cross their swords, Akane skillfully shows off her acting ability on the stage. Even though every actor is supposed to be equal in this scene, it is clear that Akane is the leading actress.
Subconsciously, Kana understands the message Akane is trying to convey: she wants to compete or share a dance. Kana finds the proposal enticing but remembering her past self, the one who lost jobs because she outshone everyone, she retreats into the shadows to let Akane take all of the spotlight. Gotanda analyzes Kana's actions and concludes that she has done it for the betterment of the show and it makes her such a useful actor on projects. Kana also affirms that she has done the right thing by supporting Akane, it enhances the play. However, Akane is not satisfied because Kana is denying her the opportunity to face off on equal grounds. The battle comes to a temporary stop as Princess Saya observes the devastation left behind by the battle.
During the break, Akane is beating herself for the way things went. Aqua is also displeased with the outcome, stating that Kana is at her best when tries to draw everyone's attention, but Akane will definitely win the way things are going. However, Akane wants to beat Kana at her best, so together they plan draw out the best from Kana.
