Emotional Acting「感情演技, Kanjō Engi?」 is the fifteenth episode of Oshi no Ko anime adaptation.
Synopsis[]
Abiko sees a play that GOA has worked on and decides to believe in him. In exchange, she makes one condition regarding the writing of the script. The script is finally completed, and the cast is put to the test...![1]
Summary[]
Abiko watches the stage play that Aqua and Akane previously watched. Her appearance is reported to Raida, who proceeds to scramble and give her a proper welcome. Raida attempts to schmooze Abiko over as she says she watched the play to give her inspiration on the rewritten script, but then he remembers the words Aqua said. He suddenly switches tone and pleads with Abiko to change her mind regarding the script, because there is a good chance that whatever Abiko writes, no matter how awful, will be used as-is in the production of the stage play. Abiko is not deterred, but she also remembers Yoriko's words about meeting people halfway and relents with just one condition.
Abiko works with Goa to revise the stage play's script.
Later on, Abiko and her editor, along with Raida and Goa have an online meeting. Abiko's demands are revealed: she and Goa will talk through the changes in real-time without intermediaries. Raida has reservations about this arrangement, as similar arrangements have led to disputes in the past. However, as there is nothing left to lose at this point, it is worth the gamble. After bouncing ideas with each other, the two manage to come up with a script that satisfies Abiko. Raida, on the other hand, is somewhat horrified at the results but with little time left for rehearsal, there are no alternatives.
Aqua hallucinates Gorou's vengeful spirit.
The heavily revised script reaches the actors, and while most of the actors are happy with the changes, some have concerns. However, there is little time to waste, and together, they get on with the rehearsals. While rehearsing the climactic scene, Aqua is stopped by director Kindachi, who tells him to pour more emotions into his acting. Akane tells Aqua not to feel disheartened, but Kana tells Akane not to baby him, pointing out that Aqua has never done emotional acting before. Since he does not normally show his emotions, they do not convey with his acting. Aqua knows Kana is right, so he seeks her advice, specifically how she cries when acting. Kana explains that there are several ways to get child actors to start crying, but the most common method is to tell them to imagine if their mother died. However, he needs to show joy in his scene, so Kana recommends thinking of a happy memory. As Aqua thinks about happier times, he suddenly hallucinates a vengeful spirit reprimanding him for enjoying the moment and reminding him that he failed to save her. Remembering Ai's death, Aqua collapses to the floor.
Akane embraces Aqua.
Aqua excuses himself from the rehearsals, and Akane follows behind to take care of him. She suggests calling his family, Aqua interrupts her as he does not want Ruby to find out, and he settles on letting her call Taishi Gotanda. Gotanda is not pleased but takes him in anyway. He is also surprised to learn that Akane is Aqua's girlfriend. Akane apologizes for coming to the place uninvited, but Gotanda waves her off, saying that he's the only one who knows about Aqua's "situation" and relays his story to Akane. Once he finishes the story, he returns to his work and asks Akane to look after Aqua. As Aqua gets haunted by his past, he starts muttering Ai's name in his sleep. Akane remembers the name as the idol that Aqua admires who died years ago. She then has an epiphany and realizes Aqua and Ruby's connection to Ai. Aqua eventually wakes up and sees Akane crying. When asked about it, she brushes it off and gives him an embrace. Meanwhile, Gotanda looks at his computer with files linked with Aqua.
