Lie「空音, Sorane?」 is the eighty-seventh chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on July 14, 2022.[1]
Summary[]
Akane Kurokawa walks out of her filming location to be greeted with pouring rain. She looks up at the sky while saying softly about bringing her own umbrella before she sees Aqua Hoshino approaching with an umbrella. She giddily asks if he's picking her up, but Aqua deflects and says he's only picking her up because the location is close to his house. Akane teases him and refuses the umbrella that he brought with him, saying that they can share his umbrella instead, and link her arms around his.
As they both walk silently, Akane starts pondering about Aqua, and how she realizes long ago how he is attracted to Kana Arima. She decides to not care too much about the reason why he decided to go out with her because he has been a good boyfriend so far. She highlights how good of a boyfriend Aqua has been, including the fact that he comes by to pick her up when it is raining. Akane concludes that she cannot ask for more from him, but she is a bit annoyed that she is going as far as refusing to talk to Kana. However, Akane realizes that this might be Aqua's way to be straight with her, and it might also be a way for him to process his emotions.
Akane arrives at home, and Aqua reminds her to get a rest early, after knowing she has an early schedule tomorrow. As he leaves, Akane happily smiles at him, knowing that he is trying his best not to lie to her even though he is a liar, and she is hoping that the lies that started their relationship will slowly become truth, implying that she is hoping he will fall for her just as hard as he is with Kana. Akane however reveals that she won't tolerate him cheating with another girl, as she reveals her jealousy and wishes to keep an eye on him.
Meanwhile, Ruby Hoshino and Minami Kotobuki have a talk about Minami being featured on the cosplayer segment of Dig Deep!, but Minami is unsure as she doesn't usually cosplay in events such as Comiket, only doing it for magazines but her actual job is a gravure model. Minami calls out that her joining would feel dishonest. Ruby dismisses her concern, saying instead that this is Minami's chance to branch out as Dig Deep! has excellent writer, ratings and Minami's appearance would make her stand out, and this can lead to a better career for her.
Minami agrees with her point but still looks uncertain. Ruby then said that she would also be on site as a reporter, and would not force her, saying lastly that it'd be great if they could work together. Minami then relents and says that she will contact her manager, admitting silently that this is a good opportunity for her to branch out. Minami, however, also recognizes that cosplaying is a risky endeavor as they have rules and etiquette she has to follow, and she only barely counts as a cosplayer, so she has to plan this carefully lest she get in trouble. Minami then sadly looks at Ruby and thinks that this kind of dishonest plan is something that she will not stand usually. Minami then wonders if Ruby is now starting to understand the dirty world of adults.
Shun Yoshizumi received another rejection letter from cosplayers that he contacted. He briefly wonders if he can make the segment longer through editing, as he cannot bring enough guests to fill in the show. As Shun questions how he can find more interesting people, his sister Mimi Yoshizumi comes into his room asking for a USB-C to Thunderbolt cable.
Shun suddenly has an idea, and says that they need to talk as he asks her to appear in Dig Deep! Mimi refuses to appear in the show, even though she is a cosplayer. She said that her photos are heavily edited, but Shun begs her to feature in the show, as her cosplayer social media has many followers. Mimi then reveals that she can't appear because her voice would be recognizable, as it was revealed that she is also a VTuber, with her PC showing off her model in the background.
