Freedom「自由, Jiyū?」 is the seventy-second chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on February 24, 2022.[1]
Summary[]
Akane states that she has no qualms with whatever Aqua asks of her, whether it is kissing or sex. Aqua hesitates for brief moment before making up some excuses. Akane is offended by Aqua's response and demands answers, going on to state that she believes Aqua finding their relationship strange due to the lack of kissing or sex. Aqua denies the accusation and turns the questioning around by asking if Akane has any romantic feelings for him. Akane quickly responds that she does but giving a more shaky response.
Aqua points out her lack of confidence in her answer, stating that he never felt that from her. Akane says she has never had a boyfriend, therefore does not understand what kind of relationship they have and she is going for it. However she does want to help him, reminding him that he joined the industry to kill someone and she want to share the burden with him. Aqua explains that he was looking for the man responsible for his mother's death, his father. He became an actor, as he deduced that he was in the entertainment industry. He spent a fortune on DNA tests and eventually found a half brother. However after all of that, he found out his father is dead, so it is over and he is free to do whatever he wants.
Akane is stunned into silence by Aqua's revelation and Aqua asks what's wrong. She quickly makes up an excuse and heads home. As she reflects on what Aqua has said, she realizes that part of him always wants all of it to end, which is why he failed to notice a loophole. However if he notices, he would dive back into his revenge, leaving Akane to ponder what she should do.
Meanwhile Ruby is visiting her mother's grave, telling her about the upcoming trip to Miyazaki as well as Aqua's recent change in behavior. When she leaves, someone else approaches Ai's grave and praises Ruby's beauty but it's no surprise since she is their daughter.
