Boyfriend-Girlfriend「カレシカノジョ, Kareshi Kanojo?」 is the fifty-second chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on August 5, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
Akane has prepared dinner for everyone at the Gotanda household and when asked, she mentioned taking cooking lessons with her mother. Gotanda's mom says Akane is a keeper and tells Aqua to hang on to her. Seeing he has not touched his food, Gotanda asks Aqua if he is not eating, to which he says he's not hungry. Akane tries to feed him but he rebuffs her, saying that he is not a kid as he starts eating the food. Akane has a thought about wanting to help him to repay his help.
After dinner, Akane learns that Gotanda has been teaching Aqua how to act. She then requests to see some of Aqua's past performance. Gotanda has no issue with it but he tells her to seek Aqua's permission. Aqua quickly grants it but on the condition that she watches them without him. Gotanda is surprised since he refused the same request from Kana just a couple of months ago. Akane then watches an old movie starring Primary School-aged Aqua. Akane comments on how cute kid Aqua is before she realizes the reason why Aqua is reluctant to show people his past works. Aqua planned his acting in advance and his performance were very scripted, he showed no emotions at all and reacted poorly in situations. Gotanda then informs her that Aqua also had a panic attack during the filming of this movie and he has always had problems whenever he needs to show emotions through his acting.
Later on the balcony, Akane asks why Aqua is acting. Aqua does not want to disclose the reason at first but Akane criticize him for being secretive after talking about the importance of communication. Reluctantly Aqua gives her a hypothetical example that he has joined the entertainment industry to kill someone and ask what she would do in such a scenario, After a brief pause, Akane answers that she will help him. She reasons that there must be a good reason for someone like Aqua to desire the death of someone and she is will to carry that burden as his girlfriend. In return, she wants him to fulfill his duties as a boyfriend, specifically she wants his help to beat Kana and Taiki.
Aqua accepts her request and shows Gotanda the script of Tokyo Blade to find a way to beat Kana and Taiki. After reading the script, Gotanda reminds Aqua not to be the an amazing actor but one who can act "pitch perfect". He than asks Aqua what the script demands, Aqua responds "intense emotional acting". Therefore, Aqua has no choice but to deliver emotional acting. Gotanda instructs Aqua to come over after rehearsals every day and he will whip him into shape for the play.
