Emotional Acting「感情演技, Kanjō Engi?」 is the fiftieth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on July 15, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
With the revised script in hand, the cast get back to rehearsals. Diving into the new script, Akane is much happier with the way princess Princess Saya is depicted. Kana notes that the new script put more emphasis on the acting itself, which Taiki does not mind. Most of the other actors, especially those from Lala Lai are also quite eager with the new script but not everyone is happy. Melt for instance is having a panic attack as he know his acting would not be able to do the script justice. He also assumes a proper actor like Aqua will have not trouble but Aqua denies it.
As the rehearsals proceeds, Aqua is stopped by director Kindachi during the climactic scene. Kindachi tells Aqua that he is acting in the way the original depicts it but emotions need to be more intense for stage plays, in other words, Aqua needs to bring out more emotion for an emotional acting scene like this one. Akane tells Aqua not to feel disheartened since he is still new to stage play but Kana approaches them and tell Akane not to let him go easy, pointing out that Aqua has never done method acting before. Since he does not normally show his emotions, they do not convey with his acting. Akane is somewhat surprised that Kana knows so much about Aqua but takes offense at Kana's subtle dig of her relationship with Aqua.
Aqua is aware that Kana is right, so he seeks her advice, specifically how she cries when acting. Kana's face immediately lights up and she explains that there are several ways to get child actors to start crying but the most common method is to tell them to imagine if their mother died. However he needs to show joy for his scene, so Kana recommends him to think of a happy memory. Aqua closes his eyes and thinks about happier times. He is starting to smile when he suddenly hallucinates his past life reprimanding him for enjoying the moment and reminding him that he failed to save her. The image of Ai's death flash through his mind and he collapses to the floor.
