A Job That's Kinda Fun「ちょっと楽しいお仕事, Chotto Tanoshī Oshigoto?」 is the thirty-ninth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on April 1, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
This is Mana Suzushiro's fourth JIF as an idol. As she finishes her performance, her partners ask what she plans to do afterwards. She has decided to catch the performance of a cute girl she spotted earlier that day. The girl she has come to see is Ruby and seeing her perform on stage gives her a realization. She was an idol otaku who became an idol at seventeen after passing an audition. She believes she has done well as an idol. However on reflection, she has been given a bit part to play. With new idols entering the industry all the time, she believe that she is done being an idol. While she always dreamed of being an idol, the wish already come true and reality has set in. With that in mind she has decided to quit before being told that she has aged out. And so after six years in the industry, Mana retires from the entertainment industry.
Every member of B-Komachi are tired after their performance and as they climb into their van, they find Aqua waiting for them. After a long period of silence, Kana speaks up, asking Aqua for his thoughts on their performance. Aqua says that they have done all right but Kana wants a little more out of him. However Aqua refuses, stating that it was their first performance, they will be doing even better in the future, so it would be a waste to give them a glowing review at this point.
Miyako notes that the two have finally started talking again but Mem-Cho does not think they are getting along. Miyako says that is not the case and asks Aqua to update them about his relationship with Akane. Aqua informs them that he hasn't seen her since the end of LoveforReal and that he only sees her as someone he works with. Kana's face lights up once she learns that Aqua's relationship is only for work and starts pestering him like before. Mem-Cho notes Kana's sudden change in attitude and realizes that a love triangle is forming between the three and is conflicted over which girl to support.
Meanwhile Akane has received a new job offer and is glad to have the opportunity to be working with Aqua again.
