The Entertainment Department「芸能科, Geinō-ka?」 is the nineteenth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on September 24, 2020[1], and in Mangaplus on May 19, 2022.[2]
Summary[]
It's the start of a new school year and the the first day at Youtou High School for Aqua and Ruby. Ruby nervously enters her class and is astonished by the attractive people around her. She quickly find her seat and meets the classmate sitting next to her, a pinup idol named Minami Kotobuki. After formal introductions, Ruby gets on her phone to try find out more about her new friend, which makes Minami embarrassed .
During break, Ruby introduces her to Aqua, who is seemingly not interested in making friends. They then discuss about the environment they are, Minami acknowledges that everyone is a professional in this school and this makes her nervous. Ruby then repeats the advice Kana Arima provided earlier to just be themselves. Aqua tells them not to be nervous but Ruby then tells him about Frill Shiranui, a popular and multi-talented entertainer in her class. Seeing her nearby, Aqua approaches Frill and asks her to be friends with Ruby. Frill recognizes Aqua from Sweet Today and complements his acting. She also recognizes Minami from a magazine cover, Minami is over the moon upon realizing that Frill remembers her name. On the other hand, Ruby becomes self conscious about the fact that she does not have an established place in the entertainment industry yet.
Ruby pesters Miyako to make her an idol, fearing she will get bullied by her classmates for her lack of an entertainment career. However, Miyako has trouble putting the idol group together and finding members. Ruby tries recommending Minami, but Miyako guesses she is from another agency and refuses to get into trouble with them, preferring a freelancer to join them instead. Hearing this, Aqua mentions that he knows someone who is freelance, has name recognition with little work at the moment and is also cute, Kana.
