Future「未來, Mirai?」 is the one hundred and sixty-first chapter of Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on September 26, 2024.
Summary[]
With a knife in his hand, Aqua faces off against Hikaru, who is still watching Ruby’s performance on his phone. Meanwhile Tsukuyomi makes a narration about Hikaru, who has become obsessed with the idea of killing those who can surpass Ai to increase her significance. He does so by spreading his ideas to others and fulfills his desires through killing. It is for these reasons that nearly led to Ruby's death.
The father and son continue their confrontation, Hikaru drops his phone and claims that Ruby’s existence is not eternal but Aqua retorts by saying that her future is not his. Hikaru then asks Aqua if his son is going to kill him with the knife. He is seemingly content with such an outcome since it will make Ai more valuable, but what would happen after Aqua kills him? Can Ruby continue to be an idol if she is labelled the sister of a murderer? She would become the perfect toy for society where hypocrites would destroy her dignity and ruin her job opportunities. Besides the media do not want the truth after all and killing him would not solve anything. Furthermore Aqua has plenty of reasons to live, whether to fulfill his dreams, fall in love, hang out with friends and loved ones or to watch Ruby reach the very top.
In response, Aqua talks of his dreams of becoming a surgeon, giving Kana a reply, spending more time with Taiki, calling Miyako mum or repaying Akane for everything she has done as well as his desire to watch Ruby performing at the Dome. However he is willing to throw all of that away if it means protecting Ruby's future. And for spoiling her future, he will not let Hikaru live another day. Hikaru begins to panic and questions his son's sanity. Aqua declares that he will kill him but he will not ruin Ruby's reputation and there is only one way do so.
Aqua stabs himself in the abdomen and proceeds to tell his father how the events will be perceived. Upon being accused of committing a crime, Hikaru confronts the scriptwriter. A stabbing occurs and the two then fall off the cliff. He then grabs Hikaru by the collar and reminds him that the media are not interested in the truth. He then push them over the railing and states that the lie will never be exposed.
