Towards the Future「未来に向けて, Mirai ni mukete?」 is the one hundred and twelfth chapter of Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and Illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari.
Summary[]
Kana graduates from High School and Ruby has come to congratulate her but she points out that Kana never participated in the university exam despite all the talk about going to college. Kana states it is her life decision and that she has decided to prioritized on her acting career over higher education. Furthermore the upcoming summer live concert will mark her last activity as an idol, which Ruby understands.
Meanwhile casting for the role of Ai remains undecided, Akane is the first frontrunner for the role but Frill's schedule has suddenly opened up and she might be the better candidate. Kaburagi considered Yura Katayose as well due to name recognition but she disappeared a while back. So he believes Frill is the more suitable candidate as it would also satisfy the investors' request.
On his way to Ichigo-Pro, Gotanda comes across Ruby playing with a cat on the streets. After greeting each other, he cannot help but notice how pretty she looks. According to Ruby is staying away from the office because she is avoiding someone. He instantly works out that she is talking about Aqua and she becomes furious as soon as she hears his name. Gotanda then asks if she has not heard anything about the DVD from Aqua but Ruby draws a blank. Gotanda rationalizes that Aqua must have kept it from his sister due to his overprotective nature and he states that he must have his reasons. Ruby does not care about his reasons as she now believes that everyone are just liars. And in that moment Gotanda sees a glimpse of Ai in Ruby.
The two then part ways and Gotanda notes that Ruby is now roughly same age as Ai when she gave birth. He then starts thinking about the DVDs that Ai gave him for safekeeping. Various questions has been going through his mind, why pass them to the twins when they turn 15; why two separate DVDs and why did she entrust them to him? And when he found out, that is when he decided to make this movie.
Gotanda continues the discussion over Ai's casting with Aqua, Akane is still the frontrunner but Kaburagi is pushing for Frill but he has a new idea, he wants Ruby to be play the role of Ai.
